Cinodactyly!!!! with piano.
on: July 09, 2024, 12:53:37 AM
Hi guys, so I have a condition called Clinodactyly where my pinky is curved in a good deal(genetic). I plan on getting this fixed and straightened and was wondering whether or not anyone knows if once I get it fixed would I still be able to play the pieces I know, like part of F. Impromptu. Would fixing this condition end my piano technique, and would I have to start over?

Well, they say you play the piano with your brain, not your fingers. I expect your brain would adapt pretty quickly to the new shape of your pinky and that you would not feel like you were starting again from scratch. But I'm not an expert, so my thoughts are worth only what you paid for them.
