HSC Music 2 and Ext. repertoire
on: August 06, 2024, 12:49:32 PM
In about one year, I have to do my HSC examination.

For Music 2, I have chosen Liszt/Schumann's Widmung and I have to select one more piece from the romantic timeline (as they have to be from the same period) with 2 pieces totaling 10 minutes.

For music extension, you have to select 3 pieces (one which is a duet with another person with piano 4 hands) and do not go over 20 minutes. I have chosen Beethoven's Tempest 1st movement and still need another solo and collaborative performance. (I was also thinking of doing one of Rachmaninoff's etude tableaux op 39 no 8/5 or Liebeslied but I really want to do a Rachmaninoff piece)

Does anyone have any suggestions that can fit my repertoire? (Music Ext. is required more difficult pieces than Music 2)

A few pieces come to mind for music extended...
Debussy - Jardin sous la Pluie
Brahms - One of the Hungarian Dances (4 hands version)
Scriabin - One of his easier Etudes
Liszt - S. 141 no. 4 "Arpeggio"
Hope this helps.
