Melville Ellis, anyone ?
on: February 25, 2005, 10:34:41 PM
Hello
just stumbled across the name of this early 20th century pianist, as accompanist to Cecil B. DeMille on the 1915 film shooting of Carmen, one of the early silent versions from the opera. Anyway, it looks like Melville played the piano while opera star Geraldine Farrar was acting. The source I found seemed to think Ellis was an important figure, since they trailed his piano to every location shooting they made for the film.
Does anyone have any idea of who this Melville Ellis is ?
Thanks
F.
