Chat GPT Posts

Does anybody else get the impression that there are a certain number of posts these days, usually from members with single digit posting histories, that feel like they've been written by ChatGPT? I mean posts that use a lot of relevant words, but don't seem particularly well thought out and are overwritten in the way a mediocre high school student's English Lit essays might be overwritten, a bit vague and cliche'd. I'm not sure why someone would want to ask ChatGPT to generate a post here, but a number of recent ones just have that "I'm not a human being but I'm doing a fair imitation," quality to them.

My impression is that they are done by spammers, but the moderators clean these posts away.

When they come with some random link to their website, then I'm sure it's a spammer, but sometimes they are just not quite human sounding posts related to the thread topic. Maybe some people find it entertaining to do that sort of thing, but the posts don't pass the Turing test for me.

the problem with the Turing test is that most people, including myself, are stupid, so if a computer responds in a stupid way, it is very hard to distinguish from a real person. A perfect answer is certainly not a real person.

BTW i sent my sons to the same school as him, Sherborne.
