The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Show pieces/Repeated notes
on: December 10, 2024, 04:01:28 PM
In around april I have a piano performance where I would like to play some good showy pieces. I am preparing Un Sospiro currently, and I have asked my teacher for some suggestions for a second piece. He wants me to learn a piece with repeated notes to improve my technique. He has recommended me Suggestion Diabolique by Prokofiev, so I was wondering if there are any other good showy pieces that practice repeated notes technique?

I would try Gottschalk souvenirs d'andalousie.
Sounds difficult, but very accesible.
Liszt HR 6 is different level.

Yes - Scarlatti!  agree with brogers70, and there are other sonatas too...
Suggestion Diabolique is a great suggestion too, imo.  Why do you shy away from it?
There's Ravel - Alborada del Gracioso, but this is on a whole 'nother level.
Are you familiar with Hummel sonata in f# minor op 81, 3rd movement - a real finger buster with some fascinating passages with repeated notes.

Are we talking quickly repeating notes like the pieces suggested above, or repeating chords a la Prokofiev Suggestion Diabolique?
