Searching for dark intermediate pieces
on: December 22, 2024, 03:21:29 PM
Hello!
I need help finding dark intermediate pieces. I've been playing piano and taking private lessons for three years, and now I've finally reached the intermediate stage, or at least early intermediate. Since most of the pieces I've learned were joyful and light-hearted, I'm looking for dark and dramatic pieces, preferably ones that have a lot of colours and strong melodic lines. A big BONUS point if the pieces or composer are lesser-known as I'm trying to develop my interpretation skills without relying on "definitive" renditions.

I would recommend your namesake - Scriabin. Have you explored his preludes? The one in e minor from opus 11 is early intermediate, technically, musically all of Scriabin has challenges, even more so than Chopin. Another from opus 11 to consider is the one in a minor.
