I rarely play classical piano anymore. But I gave Beethoven, Heller, And Rachmaninoff a go.... I purposely played with the tempos just to see how it would come out... I like it, but would love to hear your opinions

Rachmaninov starts and ends well, but maybe gets a bit lost in the middle?

Makes me wonder, what's the secret sauce to rekindling that old flame? My own experience screams similar scenarios, a forgotten love affair with... well, something else. This reminds me of when I tried getting back into coding after a year off, absolute chaos! Trying to rebuild my Slither io skills after neglecting it forever felt pretty much the same. The initial joy turns into frustration quickly when you keep messing up.

The "secret sauce" is two-fold:  a) deciding to commit to piano for x period of time - perhaps 6 months or a year  b) following through with daily practice (and the support that practice needs, like a teacher or engaging with an online community).

If you're looking for a magical feeling to sweep you along, that will only occur intermittently - you need commitment and a disciplined practice routine as the foundation...   If that doesn't sound like you, then just play when you feel like it and endure the choppy results.
