Prok 2 arrangement for jazz quintet
on: March 02, 2025, 05:25:05 AM
I made an arrangement of the first movement of Prok 2 for jazz quintet.  This was finished for a while but one day I was like yo what if instead of doing an improvised piano solo what if I just play the cadenza and space chord it out.  So I started learning the cadenza and a week later played it in front of an audience.  I told the band this was what we were doing like 10 minutes before the show lol 💀.

The drummer drops his mallets at one point so it’s just a trio for a while which I thought was actually kinda nice. idk if it makes sense arrangement wise or it’s just cause the drummer was so damn loud and the room didn’t have any sound proofing.  I think I also gave everyone different charts with different outros into the piano solo by accident so nobody knew when the form ended and the cadenza started so that’s my fault oops lol

The balance isn’t great so listen to it for the composition itself not the performance.

too bad the piano is so in the background
I only listened to 20", that sax was a bit hard to take
but i'll give it another try later

If you don’t like the sax player that’s cool you don’t gotta listen to it lol
