STORM: The fury and the calm
on: May 06, 2025, 07:48:30 AM
My new challenge has been, to begin with, interpreting 'Storm,' a piece I composed years ago, and it's not easy to play. Hence, you might hear some slip-ups (humans are like that). Then there was the sound aspect, which took me almost a month to set up to achieve an acceptable sound.

Composition-wise, I welcome your comments. There's a variety of harmonies, and what I like most is the B Theme section and the final progressions.

I composed this piece during a time when I was young and angry with the world, so that comes through quite a bit.

I hope you like it, or not, but if you could share your opinion, it gives me the strength to continue and also helps me improve. CHEERS!!

I think it's a good composition! I think it works well and utilizes the stylistic framework it's using well. I don't really have any negatives. I feel like I can hear what you are trying to achieve and I think you were successful.

Thank you very much for your comment. And I'm glad you like it. As I said before, this piece was born after the death of my father, preceded by the death of my middle brother. The hardness of the moment when I was just a teenager, led me to lock myself in my piano as a balm and I began to compose for the first time. It freed me.
When I started it I was studying Chopin's ‘The Revolutionary’, so it probably influenced me a lot in this piece, as it has Chopin's anger at the thought that his parents are dead and he wants to be reunited with them as soon as possible.
It was unfinished for many years until I decided to take it up again and give it shape. I suppose that's why the piece itself evolves in emotions during the work.

New composition: My Little Girls
I made this composition with my two daughters in mind, I started it with the little one on top of me when I was playing with her on the piano. And it almost came out in its entirety. The B track was inspired by how they make me feel.
I mixed ‘piano noir’ with ‘addictive Keys’ looking for a more special sound.
I hope you like it! I made the cover thinking about my big daughter who loves anime. Don't ruin it! jajjaja

While I appreciate the insight into the piece's difficulty and the effort put into sound quality, I found the overall emotional impact slightly muted despite the harmonic variety. The B theme and final progression, as you pointed out, are highlights, but perhaps exploring ways to better connect those sections could enhance the piece's cohesion. Could simplifying some elements allow for a stronger overall message, even at the risk of appearing less technically complex?

I really appreciate your comment and analysis. It is detailed and has made me think a lot. It is a work that I did not do entirely in the same moment of my life, I was composing it at different times with what you say about the cohesion is completely true ... and I also agree that the technical difficulty deviates and loses steam to the message. Most of my works are not so complex. For me the message is always everything. Thank you very much for your comments! they make me grow and learn. And in future works, I always keep them in mind. Best regards!
