feedback on rach Musical Moment n. 4
on: June 25, 2025, 07:13:06 PM
Hi, Im new to this forum. Im not working with my teacher atm (just finished my computer programming program at college so im not sure of my ability to afford lesson right now).

i am working on Rachmaninoff musical moment n.4 by myself so i dont really have anyone to check my blind spots.
LINK:

i tried posting to reddit forums but they are kind of dead lately so its hard to get much feedback.
Someone mentioned that they dont know if its my piano or audio quality but it sounds a bit "loud and in your face"

Im not sure if that is because of my interpretation or not (i wanted a bit of a more punchy interpretation but im not sure if it has strayed from being correct)

Also i can probably benefit from more metronome practice so ive been doing that in the meantime.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Some of your cords sound like you are hitting the piano, ie they sound a bit harsh. Try to find a nice, round, resonant sound even when the piece is loud and full of passion and drama.

Some of your passagework sounds rather sloppy and uneven and you have pretty different tempos depending on the bar. That's ok to some degree, but in your video the difference is between a moderately fast tempo with clearly articulated notes and a too fast tempo where you are sloppily tearing things off, as it were. That's too much. Make sure you can play *everything* very evenly and clearly in a moderately fast tempo and buuild back up to faster speeds from there.
