Op.39 no.1 fingering Q

Hi all! Just wondering what fingers you would use for the three triplet figures?

All options feel pretty awkward so its hard to narrow down the lesser of two (or more) evils, and im unsure to which will provide stability at performance tempo.

It depends how big your hand is.
If you're having difficulty fingering this passage, you're going to have difficulty with the whole piece.
I'm really scratching my head, it's fairly obvious, just about whether you want to do 1-4 or 1-5 on some of those octave intervals - depends on your hand.
What exactly is stumping you?

I use, for the first note of each triplet, starting at the beginning,

3, 2, 2. 3, 2, 3, 2, 2

I always use 1 - 5, 1 - 4 is too much of a stretech at speed.

But to be honest I have used others, and am not at all consistent (I'm only an amateur, although i did play it once in a masterclass).

Just seen dizzyfingers response. Agree. I understand when you say it has to be secure. The passage I find most tricky is when this returns towards the end the LH playing octaves.

My teacher also referred to this etude as the wrist reaking etude. Maybe the point is that wrist rotation is important.

Sorry i thought it was clear in the post! Im simply looking for the finger numbers people have used in the past, because its hard to discern the “best” option when everything feels awkward.
Might seem a little basic but im just trying to start on my best foot since all my teacher’s arent available

Thanks for the response! Im notoriously bad at fingerings so i was looking to see if anyone had some illuminating ideas that i havent thought of. But it seems like there no getting around the ninth with 5 and 2

i think anything else would break my wrist at speed.

My fingering tries to minimise hand movemets and/or prepare the position for the following triplet.
