Bach’s Invention No. 15 in B Minor (2 Years Self-Taught)
on: August 09, 2025, 11:26:27 AM
This piece took me exactly one month to learn — much faster than the previous inventions, which each took me almost two months.
Right now, I’m focusing on Baroque music (also working on some Scarlatti sonatas on the side) to improve my rhythm, articulation, and trills which are definite weak spots.
In this recording, the trills are still far from perfect and some rhythms are a bit uneven, so it could use more polish. But overall, it’s been a really fun piece to work on, and I’m hoping to move on to the Well-Tempered Clavier soon!
Feedback is always welcome — it really helps me improve as a self-taught

Quite good, especially considering your are self-taught.
Is that a necessity? You would surely benefit from a good teacher.
That said, I'm impressed with how relaxed your fingers/hands/arms are and how easily the music flows, you surely have talent.
You're keeping an even tempo, which is an important foundation, but with baroque music you need to articulate the themes and lines more clearly with micro fluctuations in tempo, also with articulation. There are many options with Bach, a teacher could discuss these with you, otherwise the best thing you can do is find a recording you like and learn from that.
Was it completely memorized?
Congrats on your accomplishment!
