Massive Hollow Knight fan since the pandemic and I've been waiting literal years for this. I think there's a good chance that this will literaly be the best game ever made (original Hollow Knight still GOATed tho), but Im curious to hear other's thoughts since the original video game thread got a fair bit of responses (pls dot'n look at it if you haven't though I was so dumb back then 😭).
If you haven't played Hollow Knight before, you need to do it now/soon/before Silksong/eventually. It's one of the best games ever and it costs like $15.

Now why can't I make this Courier New font...

Happy that it's finally happening, will probably play it shortly after release, but honestly don't really care about the whole "how long it took" thing. Games are hard to make, especially for a tiny group of people, and the developers basically had infinite time to make the game as good as they could make it. I'd have had no problems if we had to wait another few years if it meant that the devs would be happy with the finished product. I'm a fan of a game called Rain World, and something that Rain World's developers ran into recently was that their publisher forced them to rush out a DLC that wasn't fully finished, forcing the developers to make the rest of the DLC as updates, which sucked/sucks for everyone involved. I'm glad that Hollow Knight's devs didn't have to deal with this problem and can instead put out something that they feel is both good and a finished product.

Honestly, Hollow Knight is definitely my least favorite of the three main modern "hard" indie platformers (HK, Celeste, and Rain World), though I still liked it and eventually ended up fully completing it. I'm absolutely excited for Silksong, but IMO going into it with the attitude that it's going to be "the best game ever made" is setting yourself up to be let down. It's almost certainly going to be a great game (movement/combat looks great, music from the trailer alone might rival the Kirby franchise, etc.), but there's no reason to set your expectations so insanely high that there's no way that it could possibly meet them.

I personally highly doubt it'll top Rain World for me, as there's just no other game that can give you the kind of experience that an unspoiled playthrough of RW can (especially the Downpour DLC, which fortunately wasn't rushed by the publisher), provided you can push past the inevitable early struggles you'll run in to. Still, I don't doubt I'll enjoy Silksong and that it'll be a great game.

The music is pretty fun to play on piano too, have a student who is a huge fan and we've played all of them, look forward to more of the new ones to come out.

I have never played any of the hollow night games, but I heard on YT shorts(yes my selection of news is appalling, and yes I am what most on this site would call a new-gen) that HK: SIlksong has pushed back the  release dates of other hyped up games.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me one bit. I think I heard somewhere that it was the most wishlisted game on Steam by a large margin (over 5.2 million IIRC).

According to this, it has almost 1.5x the followers of the next most-followed game on the platform and that number is growing rapidly. https://steamdb.info/stats/mostwished/
