The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Dear Friends,

I'm publish this piece to continue my dream of recording the entire Well Tempered Clavier,to achieve this feat, I didn't choose a famous acoustic piano, but simple entry-level digital piano, because I'm convinced that even with "poor equipment" but with a lot of good will, it's possible to overcome the difficulties and achieve appreciable results on a collection that often makes even professional pianists tremble.
The fugue (à 3) is possessed of the same earnest mood, but it is milder, softer, and refrains from all sharply marked rhythm or bustling figures, pursuing its course from beginning to end in quiet crotchet and quaver movement. This fugue is noble, deeply pensive , breathing so fully the spirit of the tonality. The theme was not shaped in order to allow of many combinations; rather did the mystic character of the key compel the master to display the fullest wealth of his art; and thus the workmanship became unusually profound. As a matter of fact the Eb- minor fugue became, as we are about to show in detail, a wonder-work of contrapuntal art.
It was really fun to study it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sure Lelle, my idea is to play all WTC1 and why not go further with WTC2... I'm studying one piece x week and record a video. If you liked my video please consider to subscribe my youtube channell. I'll update weekly new videos.

Just to be clear - are these new videos, or are you sharing existing videos? I saw a video of you doing this figure a week or two ago.

On youtube it seems to indicate you recorded this 11 months ago.

Thank you very much for your comment, essence.
These are not recent videos, as you have seen on my YouTube channel, even though they are being posted for the first time on this forum: I think some amateurs or students might find them interesting to listen to. It is rare to listen to the entire Well-Tempered Clavier No. 1 in a row, even over the course of several weeks.
I recorded it over the course of about a year, recording Bach's Inventions at the same time. One Prelude or Fugue and one Invention per week.
Now I've reached WTC2 and the symphonies, I've slowed down my pace a little and am currently studying and recording one piece per week.
I play for myself and have no ambition to become a concert performer. My job is completely different: I am a chemical/metallurgical engineer... But in my spare time or when I'm not traveling, I play Bach. I didn't think I would be able to record all these pieces (which are not easy at all), but step by step I succeeded, and I hope you like them and will continue to support me by listening to and commenting.
