Petrouchka vs Firebird (Piano Transcriptions)
on: November 15, 2025, 01:47:32 PM
Hi guys! I've heard that Stravinsky-Agosti's Suite from the Firebird and Stravinsky's Trois Mouvements de Petrouchka are considered really hard. Does anyone know the respective technical challenges of each that make these two pieces hard? And which one is more challenging overall (technical / musical)?

I am looking to hopefully learn one of them next year, and I would like to choose the one that has a set of technical challenges that fits me better, so knowing what challenges they present would be really helpful!
2026 Goal:
Bach-Busoni: Chaconne in D Minor, BWV 1004
Ravel: Gaspard de la nuit, M. 55
Scriabin: Piano Sonata No. 5, Op. 53
Stravinsky: Trois Mouvements de "Pétrouchka" / Stravinsky-Agosti: Firebird

What technical challenges are there? I mean, everything? Haha. Chords, scales, octaves, leaps. You need a solid, modern virtuoso technique to play both.
