it used to be presser's until they moved to downtown philadelphia.  now, it is pepper music in paoli (pennsylvania).  both are accessible on the internet. will look for sites.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

There isn't much of a selection in Calgary, there's only Rideau Music (www.rideaumusic.com) which, as monopolies tend to be, overpriced, with less than adequate variety, so when I try to save my music buying for when I'm in Vancouver, where they have a huge selection at Long & McQuade, or Ward music (same company, 2 names).  There's also some obscure places... when I was shopping for my violin, I visited Fan's String World in Vancouver, and it turns out that they had some piano music hidden away in filing cabinets, which nobody looked at, because it's a string place... so they had some stuff I was looking for that was out of print or hard to find elsewhere.

www.burtnco.com

- Cheap shipping

- Make one order of 10 items or more and they make you a "discount" customer for life (15% off Henle, 20% off Schirmer, 15% off Dover, etc.)

- Clearance section where you can get 40% off overstock items including Henle and Vienna Urtext

To be honest I don't see why everybody is buying sheet music anywhere other than Burt.  Oh well, it's your $$$ ....

I also buy from Burt'n'co. It's the most amazing place ever. I think it's pretty much a garage business, run by just a few people. Their customer service could not be better, and if you're looking for obscure music that isn't listen on the website (which is rare, because they sell just about everything), they'll help you out as best as they can.

Shipping depends on whether they have the item in stock (It'll say on the website I believe). It takes between a few days to a week, usually, and you can always call and ask how long it'll take to get music which isn't in stock.

(And if it changes anything, Bernhard told me about the site, he buys music from there as well. Thanks Bernhard!  ;))

The service is great and they ship very fast.

The only issue I have with them is that their online catalog does not tell you whether or not the item is backordered, so it's basically a matter of crossing your fingers after you place your order.  Clearance items are overstock, so you don't have to worry about backorder for those.  They do give you options concerning how you want to handle the order if in fact some items are on backorder: you can opt to send everything that they have in-stock, or send what they have and send the backordered items when they arrive, wait for the backordered items to save on shipping, etc.

I guess if Bernhard gets music from there then it can't be a bad place at all. I mean he buys tons of music and is constantly looking for new stuff and couldn't put up with a crock of a company.

That's the correct URL. I just tried it and got the same message. Their server may be down temporarily. Try again later.

Oh,  and their service is terrific. I ordered some clearance items on Sunday and received them yesterday! (Of course, they shipped from New Jersey which is where I live. So I can't really say how fast they are to other locations.)

Thanks, Sharon. Pretty hard website to browse, though. I guess you need to know what you want. And they use UPS for international shipping.

Anyone had good experiences with someone who ships (cheaply) to central Europe?
