question on practice times
on: March 08, 2005, 12:16:05 AM
ok, so I am kinda throwing out practice times per se. ( I mean I am not sitting down at the piano and just saying I am going to practice for the next hour and just see what happens). I am setting goals everyday for me to accomplish. my first goal is to play all the inventions in the next 5 months. That means I need 3 a month. So I took the first three today and figured out that I needed to learn around 3 measures a day to get done in time. By the way I started today. So my thing is this. TOday was exceptionally easy to learn the measures. I mean it took all of maybe 20 min to learn all the invention goals. SHould I try to work ahead and get tomorrows goals accomplished today or just don't worry about it because they will get harder soon enough? I mean I also have my audition program (performed later this week) and I am starting Bach's Concerto in D min. (can we tell I like Bach?) in a month or so. Thanks in advance, Boliver

I would say in Day 1 to continue your practicing for tomorrow's goal, and in Day 2 review what you did with your D2 goal in D1, and continue with D3 goals. So you can take a little advance, but review what you were supposed to do this day to be sure it's ok.

Make it easier on yourself and learn one a week.

And do Mozart 23 instead of Bach D Minor. ;D
