How is this repertoire for an audition???
on: March 12, 2005, 05:02:18 AM
I have to play a thirty minute audition next year (mtac panel/yag) and this is what I have so far...I'm still choosing songs (I need one Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary)

Szymanowski #3 etude op.4
Bach- Aria Variations
Beethoven-  Op.110 I
Mendelssohn- Fantasy in f# mi, Mvt 1
Bellafronte- Segmenti

Are these a good difficulty level? Or should I change a piece? If you know of any good pieces for auditioning/competition just give me your suggestions-thanks

Since you don't tell us what you're auditioning for it's hard to say. It seems OK for a college undergraduate audition, though. You might switch the Bach you're playing for something form WTC, is that's the case.

I think you should do a Prelude and Fugue, the entire Opus 90 sonata and the entire Mendelssohn Fantasy. Granted you won't be playing all of them, but I'd be a hell of a lot more impressed if you brought the entire thing to your audition.
