Madonna.  Hands down.  I grew up listening to her and she was my role model in many ways.  I always appreciated how she seemed to do exactly what she wanted to do.  She took risks and got away with it.   I also like Cher for many of the same reasons.

Yes!!!!  Lambert Hendricks & Ross!!!   Just too cool.

Have never heard McFerrin & Ma, but once we went to see McFerrin in concert at UCLA.  He had a vocal ensemble with him.  One number was the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria.  Bobby sang the Bach and a woman with a gorgeous mezzo voice sang the Ave Maria. Neither missed a note.

Because it's funny.   Also interesting.  For example, I don't care (not embarrassed) if you guys know I like Bjork's music, but most of my friends and relatives would hate it and not understand why on earth I like her stuff.  OTOH my folks like Captain and Tennielle, so if I like it, they understand... however you guys would most likely say "How can you like that schmaltzy cr*p?"  Well actually I can only take C&T in small doses, and my husband and kids can't stand it.

I think it would be fun to do a thread on "what types of music do you enjoy" - to see who has the widest range of music preferences.  Me, I enjoy a broad spectrum of Western music, from Bjork to Beethoven.  I like the world-flavored music of Zawinul and Pat Metheny Group.  But basically, I've heard very little of truly non-western music.  For example, I had no idea what Inuit throat singing was till Bjork's latest album.  Now that's "out there" -- at least to my ears.

Queen, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, even Supertramp.  How are these bands you don't want other people knowing about?  These are very popular and very critically-acclaimed bands.  ABBA makes sense, but not these other ones at all.
