Correct way to notate program?
on: March 19, 2005, 09:33:48 PM
What is the correct way to notate a Bach Prelude and Fugue on a recital program? Would it be like so:
Prelude and Fugue No. 6 in D minor from what BK 1
J.S. Bach (1728-1759)
or what is correct? Thanks for your help.

I would do:
Prelude and Fugue No. 6 in D minor, BWV 851 (from
The Well-Tempered Clavier
Book I)
You might also want to rethink those dates...

Yes, you would be listing everything.
Keep in mind that if you come upon a movement with two indications (e.g.
rondo
and
allegro non troppo
), you place a
period
after the
first
, and
nothing
after the last, like so:
IV. Rondo. Allegro non troppo
Don't ask me why.
