Now what?

im taking my grade 8 in june :Dand i want some fancy pieces to play in concerts which aren't too hard. any ideas?

What do you consider as not too hard? Could you give a title of Chopin or another composer which is about the same difficulty of the piece you want?

I hope that you got my message (re:Italian Concerto). If your Grade 8 is in June, perhaps my suggestion that you drop the Presto in favour of the Partita is not a good idea, but talk to your teacher about it. What sort of music do you play? If you want some Grade 8 level stuff that sounds impressive, have a look at some Chopin studies. You may have heard of the 'Revolutionary' or 'Black Key' studies. They are perhaps a little too demanding if you haven't got long to learn. Try a Delius Prelude (No2). It's a Grade 7 piece this year. ALso, try the Bach Partita No1 in B flat. Need any advise on any of the Partitas, do let me know. I think the most difficult is the Capriccio movement of the second Partita (in C minor), it sounds impressive.  Argerich has recorded this. Listen to some of the finer Bach interpreters, like Angela Hewitt, Glenn Gould (a favourite), Rosalyn Tureck etc.

You'll have to let me know, firstly any time restraints you have (what is your speed of learning), and secondly what repertoire you like.
