Local Competitions in Toronto and Vicinity
on: March 21, 2005, 08:39:45 PM
Hi...
Summer is coming up and I don't want to have to wait till September arrive before I got any chance of performing.

Do you guys know of any performing opportunities in the summer for students - competitions / master classes / charity concerts that look for performers / etc...?

(background: I am 30 years old playing at ARCT [i.e. Performer / Teacher's diploma] level... so I need competitions that have no age limit)

Thanks!!!

Hi any one else has ideas of what music festivals / competitions / etc... that piano students can participate in Toronto and vicinity?  Local small / big music festivals  or anything else is fine.  I just want to find chances to play in front of audience during the 4 months of summer.

You need to tell us more information about yourself - if you are a professional, student, amateur.  What kind of repertoire are you currently working on?  Have you won any competitions?  Have you made any recordings?  Etc.

More background of myself:

I completed the ARCT in canada's Royal Conservatory of Music , the Performance Diploma.  I am a amateur.  I am working on Debussy Prelude "West Wind", Skryabin Sonata #5, Beethoven "Appasionata", Chopin Szherzo #1, a Rachmaninoff Etude Tableux.

I am looking for amateur competitions, not professional ones.

Actaully the real objective is just opportunities for me to perform my pieces.  That's all... so it can be competitions or anything else if you can thing of

If you are an amatuer, the best competitions are the Toronto Kiwanis Festival or the CMC (Canadian Music Competition).  I also know that the surrounding communities also have Kiwanis Music Fesivals - Peel, Rotary, Markham, etc.
