Chopin Polonaise
on: March 22, 2005, 03:37:08 AM
Sorry I realized that my question was already answered.  New Question: Rate the difficulties (technical and musical) of these pieces:
Chopin:
Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise for piano, Op. 22.
Polonaise for piano in F sharp minor, Op. 44
Polonaise for piano in A flat major, Op. 53
Etude No.4 Op.10
Liszt:
Final movement of the B-minor Sonata

I just need a general idea so I can prep for the competition.

My take on your list is as follows:

1=most difficult

1)Polonaise in F sharp minor, Op. 44
2)Polonaise in A Flat major, Op. 53
3)Andante Spianato and Grande Plonaise Op. 22
4)Etude No. 4, Op. 10

Of course, each of these compositions is difficult in their own rite, and difficult for different reasons.  For example, the etude might be more or less difficult for you depending on your technique.  I'd be interested in others' input.  Hope this helps!

I would say
1. Andante spianato and Grand Polonaise
2. Polonaise in f-sharp
3. Polonaise in A-flat
4. Op. 10 No. 4

Don't know about the Liszt.
