Reminiscences de Guns n' Roses
on: March 27, 2005, 10:45:59 PM
In the spirit of Liszt's opera fantasies that were the pop music of his day I guess, I've decided to try and write one for guns n roses. The opening would be the slow intro and first verse of Novemeber rain, perhaps with a variation, followed by the verse from Paradise City, then use the ending part of Novemeber rain before the crazy guitar solo as a transition into a finale which would be the guitar solo theme written together with the chrous to paradise city. Maybe with a trill ontop of all that haha. should be fun to play/write.

No "Sweet Child of Mine" or "Patience?"

Actually I think the best G N' R song for a piano arrangement would be "Estranged."  That would be sick.

This sounds funny :) I'm not quite sure how Guns n Roses will end up sounding on piano :P You will have to send me a recording when it's finished!

I agree with Bri that you should mention G & R's great masterpiece: "Sweet Child o'Mine" -- by far my fave G & R lick.

I read that Slash said he was just messing around doing impromptu stuff, Axl liked it, and that's what became the intro.   As far as November Rain, I also read that pretty much all of it was improvised by Slash.

And I would consider Estranged to be a very worthy addition to mix into your collage of GnR songs.  There's some really cool piano in there.
