DId any of you guys see it last night?  There was a 13-year-old named Agape Chen who played a very famous piece in the round right before the finals, and i am having the most difficult time finding out what the name of it was!  if anyone could help, i'd GREATLY appreciate it!

Hey,

I did not see it, but heard of it. This little prodigy was playing part of Chopin's fantasy impromptu (only the hardest part to show off the technique) and a part of a Grieg concerto.
It was awful, that kid only played the most diffucult extracts of well-known pieces and yet  beated the other contestants. very strange...

I didn't see it either, but I heard the concerto he played by Grieg was the one in A minor.

what a she??

ooookkkkaaayyy...

exaggerating? well, if you saw cecille licad you'd say she's more of dancing than playing the piano.

but still she's so good! she played with the orchestra at age 6!

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
