I was eating this candy the other day, and I read the nutrition label.

"All natural artificial flavors"

What he heck?!  What exactly does that mean?  Artificially made from all natural flavors?  Or all naturally made from artificial flavors?!  This makes noooooooooooo sense!!!!!!!!!!

And I just saw Prometheus today!  That movie was sooo ugly!!!

super interesting how cultural tastes and perceptions of what is scandelous and risque might change over a hundred years or more (is anything even considered risque? does anyone even use the word anymore?)

these ladies were the 'tantalizing teases' of their day.

also on a completely unrelated but  musical thought i got to thinking about trying to hunt down videos for creative piano performance venues, so far this is my favorite, not only beucase it is one of my fav schubert impromptus (played very well) but c'mon a lakeside stage in what appears to be a most picturesque little alpine village?!?! really this is so incredible to me, a dream...

another most interesting venue, the american academy in rome

id never heard this sonata, i'm tempted to hunt down the other movements

Wow, check out that echo! I can't tell the right notes from the wrong ones or whether the piano is in tune.

49410 Enrique is about to reach his 2012th post.  I pay attention to the numbers of people's posts and their milestones lol.

A couple months ago, a friend of mine tried ironing his shirt while wearing it because it seemed to be a good idea.  He now has a really bad brand on his chest.  It looks like a shark bite lol.  I was thinking of trying it one day, but thanks to him, I know it's a bad idea!

Why do people say, 'proud to be an American', how can you be proud to be an American?!  Shouldn't the feeling of proudness be reserved for something you accomplish?  Not something that happened by chance?  'I'm proud to be Irish'.  No you're not kid.  You're HAPPY to be Irish, not proud.

My pinky is almost done healing!  It should be finish by this Saturday.

I should start my summer math packet... >:(

Has anyone read The Tempest Tales?  Worst book ever!!!  It's so bad, you probably won't mind me spoiling it.  This random black guy destroys the universe because he doesn't agree with heavens judgement and he refuses to go to he'll.  Are you freaking kidding me?!

It's been pretty hott out lately, but it's NEVER too hott to skate! ;D 8)

Dude what if piano street had their own online competition?!  Everyone could post a five minute video of themselves playing something in the audition board, and then someone like Fnork or J Menz could be the judge!

The Rach 3 is my favorite piano concerto, but I can't find a recording that completely satisfies me 100% so I really HATE listening to it.  I'm always like, 'come on, play the Ossia cadenza!!!  You're playing this too fast, you need to play louder, softer, the trumpets should've held that note louder and longer'.  So it really pains me to hear it.  So I've been listening to Carl Vine's and Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto quite a bit recently.

I wonder how hard is Ondine?  I know the first page and the right hand tremolo doesn't really give me that much of a problem.  could I learn it?  I think so, maybe...  It seems like it would attract a lot of girls and I could use that to my advantage!

*on the schools Steinway D*
'why don't you lay on the piano, and FEEl my music'  8)

I think Ondine is a really seductive piece and I'm thinking of learning it maybe.  If my new teacher allows me.  I feel like if I ask him, I don't know what he'll do to me... :-\ :-\ :-\

It only rained like twice this year so far.  This partially contributes to why I wanna to out of state for school.

,Happy Birthday!  Hahaha just kidding, one year closer to death!'. That's what a friend of mine said to me on my birthday lol!

I really like San Francisco, but it's extremely expensive there.  But I also like a lot of snow and the skate scene of New York, so I might wanna go there too.  But San Francisco has a better surf and skate scene...  So I don't really know.  My parents want me to stay in Illinois where there's nothing to do here  >:(

I find this to be the case with any piece I know well and care about. Particularly if I have played (or attempted) them.  Take heart, it means the version in your minds ear is better than any of them.

Life seems shorter and is shorter the longer you live it.

Who knows about death?  With no physicalness to experience things... There might be no awareness of death at all.  Just nothing.  I imagine at some point when the body wears out, or worse, the mind, people just get tired of experiencing that.  Anything, even nothing, would be an improvement.  The ultimate, individual consume-and-dispose.

Just make every day count!

In state tuition vs out of state tuition. Good music department? There's a lot to consider.

It's not just SF but the whole state is expensive. If the wages were better life would be better. Especially housing is out of hand.

The only thing I remember about Illinois is being stuck in a massive traffic jam in Chicago.

You know, contrary to popular belief, the houses along the beach are the cheapest.  It's just that after you by it, matenience is so expensive because you're right by the ocean.

I think I can buy a boat for less. At least it will go somewhere. Not just sit there and require endless maintenance. We have some lovely ocean front condos for under $2mil.

i find all the 'nicknames' for standard piano works in the repertoire a little more and more annoying lately. i.e. certain Beethoven sonatas and symphonies, Chopin etudes and preludes, etc etc. I mean can people at least try to refer to them by what the composer actually coined them to be? it's not a crime or anything but just out of the blue i have noticed the constant refering to the works by these monikers gets under my skin a little bit more than it used to.

by that token can just start arbitrarily assignining new nicknames to the same pieces just to keep things fresh? i.e. can i call the revolutionary etude the Che Guevara etude? i mean it's still revolutionary in scope but a little more colorful and fresh right?

or how about  the winter wind prelude? can i just call it 'draft' in the spirit of brevity?

maybe i can just get creative and call the beethoven moonlight sonata 'speaker' since that how i hear it the most, is thruogh my computer speakers?

I saw a piano CD the other day with very little information listed.  No performer listed.  I think it's all computer generated most likely.

I was thinking... It's not just that pianists are competiting with each other and then all the dead pianists' recordings from the past.  Now they're competing with non-human performances too.

Not only that but I can record a performance, display it on my computer in real music and then clean it up, fixing attacks, releases, wrong notes, dynamics, etc. That done I can play it back through the same piano that recorded it!

Considering the work required it is just easier to play the piece right in the first place.

How did I stop being in Europe   ???  What happened to Vienna?  Where did Stephansdom go?  Why don't I walk towards the Schlern mountains on my way to my hotel anymore?  Why doesn't any cashier care about my Euros (I keep trying to use them  ;D)?  Where did everybody go?  Why is Wolfi only reachable through internet again?  I miss that white puppy in the Academy.

Talking about culture shock, I recall once when I was in Las Vegas during Comdex (nerd central) and a cab driver wanted to know where I was from. I said right here and he could ask the owner of the Coin Castle on Main Street!

Apparently I had spent so much time in Europe (I really had) that I was mistaken for a foreign tourist. Maybe I was speaking a certain way? I could never figure it out.

20 minutes.  I think things are already happening.  Stage separation. Or... It's happening right now, or they're sending the signals out now.. .which I doubt... Or they're getting the signals in that it happened which would have happened 15 minutes ago...

Congratulations to CalTech, JPL and everyone who contributed even the smallest piece.

This what government should be doing. Something we can not do privately. Then once we have demonstrated that we can do something privately the government should leave that sector. The day that happens will be the day this country really takes off.

BTW, Bob, I found a piece of software that turns the pages automatically and keeps the beat. It's a midi notation program. As the score is enlarged for easy viewing on the monitor, it is re-paginated. Very cool. Think of this on a big monitor (54") in front of a classroom displaying original pieces you composed for your keyboard class. And they play along to the blinking notes...

I wonder why those photos from Mars are so blurry and only black and white? I just don't get it. It feels like 45 years ago, with the technology from back then  :P But perhaps I'm just ignorant.
