Inviting you to play my piano compositions.
on: April 06, 2005, 05:07:07 AM
Hello everyone,
I haven't been on the board for quite a while. I hope all is well with everyone. I've been pretty busy writing some new music.
I would like to invite you to listen to some piano compositions of mine and to download the sheet music if you'd like.

If anyone has had the chance to stop by, I would like to know which piece you like the most and why. I am trying to gain an understanding about what people like/dislike about my compositions.
Thanks,

I haven't listened to your compositions yet...I'm in the process of archiving some of my old improvisations from audiocassette onto my computer. I will soon though

I listened to Among the Stars. I liked the middle section, which seemed more contrapuntal and had more movement overall than the surrounding sections. If I were you I'd add a few more contrasting sections like that... but I'm not you and you're not me, of course, so thats purely a suggestion and my own opinion.

After listening to the pieces a few times I found "As My Baby Sleeps" attracted me most. The difficulty I have with much music of this genre is that it elicits one particular mental association - that comprising tranquillity, serenity and repose. It is, of course, as valid as any other response, perhaps more so in these overly hurried times; anything which calms people down has to be good. You certainly achieve this musical effect very capably.
However, speaking for myself, and this is not a criticism but purely a personal view of music (and mine is highly idiosyncratic at the best of times to say the least !) I find I increasingly crave contrast of abstract form, variety and eclecticism. I would therefore be very interested in hearing your ideas in other moods.

Hello Ted,
Thank you for your post. I greatly appreciate feedback. I do have "other moods" in my music, but do not currently have any of those types of things posted up on my site for all to see, or hear as of yet. I will be posting a lot more in the near future.
Thanks again!
