If one didn't practice for a couple of days, when he/she returns will he/she find that the level of playing got worse or it will be the same??

just a couple of days? sometimes i'll find that if i take up to a week off my pieces will improve dramatically it's kind of freaky. and then i think, well if i take breaks all the time i'll be super, and then realise that my technique would eventually go down the drain and that would suck

depends on the situation. If you are giving your brain enough time to comprehend the music that you are learning then yes, you will go down hill. But if you are cramming the stuff your brain needs time to catch up. So, if you were to take a week off then you would be surprised you would improve dramatically.

I agree with taking time off. Usually I get angry with one of my pieces and I'll put it away for a couple days. Next time I take it out, I find myself wondering what was so bad about it in the first place.  ;) Don't worry about missing a couple days. Just be careful because sometimes when I miss a couple days my fingers feel very tight because they haven't been worked. It's not painful, just uncomfortable. Good Luck with everything!!

What about a couple of weeks. I work on an offshore oil rig and the one I am on at the moment has an awful Yamaha EZ keyboard which I use although it is much better than nothing  :) I use an expensive  clavinova at home.

However in a couple of months I will be moving to another one for a few months and working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.  This place will not have anything. I may try and bring one out but it will be difficult as I will have lots of working gear as well.

I just hope it does not make me back to being a complete beginner again  :-[

I watched the film the Pianist a few weeks ago and was amazed how he could pick it up again after what he ahd been through and having no practice for years. What an amazing man.
