Favorite polonaise NOT by Chopin?
on: May 25, 2026, 11:21:45 PM
There's plenty of discussion about Chopin's works in a given genre, and even as someone who's grown tired of Chopin I have to admit that Polonaises are one genre where Chopin still (mostly) reigns supreme. Still, other composers wrote good polonaises that are worth discussion without being completely overshadowed by Chopin's.

Personally, my favorite is Szymanowski's (followed by Saint-Saëns'). The seven in the poll are just the ones that I could think of off the top of my head, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are other notable ones that I missed.

I haven't listened to much but seems a good rabbit hole to go down! No.12 is nice (23:15)
