Finale from carnival of the animals
on: April 08, 2005, 01:37:50 PM
Hi,

Recently working on this piece, no not as a duet but the more difficult solo arrangement found on music-scores.com. There are a couple of parts in the piece needing more attention to, one thing is the descending scales using all white keys in both hands, the fingering i would use is 4,3,2,1 for right hand and the opposite with the left, would anyone dissagree with this? is it bad fingering to use? I dont know how many people would be interested in this piece, but what the heck, I love it.

The second thing is the demi-semi quavers played with the right hand near the end of the piece. Considering the tempo of the piece being molto allegro, this passage is tricky to say the least, I was wondering if anyone has played this piece and knows what I mean, because I dont know exactly what fingering to use, I am using 1,2,3,4 for some of the notes and 1,2,3,4,5 for some of the others, but I dont know whats best really, are you supposed to just do that thing with your finger or fingers to just scrape them as it were up the keyboard? I know you have to do that at the start with all them grace notes, there is no other way to do that part.

Thankyou.

could you post the passages you're talking about? i think i know which are the ones you were asking about, but i'm not sure, and i don't have the score here. i played the 4-hands piano-solo version (up part), which is very similar to the solo one (i didn't play the solo version, i just sight-read it).

I dont know the exact bar numbers if thats what you mean, not looking at the music at the moment. The demi-semi quaver part is obviously towards the end, and I am wondering whether or not this part is to be played with proper fingering as a scale or just to run your finger across the keys so that the speed is there, or does it really matter.

Another thing is, in exactly the same part I think there is an error in the music on the website, because surely the run is from the b all the way up to an f higher than what the score says, I think its missing the 8va symbol, otherwise you go back down to the e which doesnt seem right, it breaks up the scale then. You wont know what I am on about anyway unless you look at the solo score. This probably is not very popular judging from the amount of relies I have received, oh well. cheers
