Pearl River/Steinway Connection
on: April 11, 2005, 10:48:11 PM
I just heard some awesome news! Steinway has decided that their Essex line of pianos will now be manufactured by Pearl River. The reason for this change is because Young Chang- who previously made the Essex line for Steinway- was forced to file for Chapter 11 when they could no longer compete with the Chinese labor costs.

I don't know how soon this will start, however I thought everyone deserves to know. Obviously, Steinway trusts that Pearl River will do a great job with the Essex line. Please feel free to share your thoughts regarding this change.

My opinion,

The Young Chang Essex pianos were nothing to write home about - very underwhelming. I expect nothing less from Pearl River.
