New Perzina's first tuning
on: April 20, 2005, 09:13:18 PM
Two weeks after delivery, the tuner/tech (Keith) came in and did his thing. For tuning, he used a laptop with a program called LabsomethingPro or   somethingLabPro. Had black squares moving either left or right to indicate direction of pin turn, and the rest was audible. Once the oscillation   had balanced to zero, it was tuned for that key. For all keys, it took about 45 minutes. Most of them needed to be loosened a bit. Keith said the next tuning should be due in 8 to 12 months, which surprised me. I thought it would be needed sooner.

He was impressed to hear the deep bass of this 51" vertical (GP129).

I had also reported some squeaky keys (pressing them very slowly) and for that, he took the action out to lubricate the support rail where the supports were pivoting. Very simple and efficient. He found that out after another Perzina had the same issue and first he didn't know what to do. I was happy for it to be such a minor cause, and now it is perfect.

I took a few pictures, and if any of you are interested, I'll post them.

Hello,

I am also the owner of a Perzina 128 for 4 month's now. And everyone who's visit me are surprised about the sound from low to high!
And my friends have more expensive piano's like:Blutner-Bosendorfer and Baldwin but they told me that the Perzina sounds also expensive!
I am very happy with my piano and the price are amazing for me. And now there are a lot of other friends they have buy a Perzina now.
My English are not so very well because I am a Dutchman. But I do my very best!
If you have more information for me or pics I will like that and I can you send a photo of mine piano if I have a mail-adress.

Best Regards,

Klaas

Glad you two are happy with your new Perzinas.  They sound like nice pianos.

Paying a lot of money does not assure a perfect piano -- one poster here has been lamenting problems with a Kawai.

Your comments on your piano tuner are interesting.  Our tuner is very elderly -- at least 75 years old.  He also uses an electronic meter to get a reading on pitch as he works on each string.

In the old days, once a person lost their excellent hearing, I am sure their piano tuning days were over.

Today with these meters, even elderly technicians with impaired hearing can still do a great job tuning pianos.

Every time this man comes to tune our piano, when he leaves he plays for about 5 or 10 minutes.  He is a wonderful pianist.  Sort of Ramsay Lewis "progressive jazz" material.

Tuners are very important people.  Be sure of that.

Keep playing those Perzinas.  Glad you enjoy them.
