National music

I notice load of people mentioning the usual classical & early/late romantic repetoire of french, german, austrian, russian/soviet composer's works on here. I guess this is mainly aimed at US and UK. How many of you play works by american and english composers that aren't modern - McDowell, Amy Beach, Elgar (yes there are a few piano works), John Ireland, and Vallier, Sterndale-Bennet to mention a few. Are we neglecting our own music for european music? Do you prefer to play european/soviet music or do you think competitions/teachers/public/media demand it?
I know I like to educate as well as entertain the public and Im doing some pieces by Cecilia McDowall in a recital this September and my organiser is looking forward to my program since he's not heard 1/2 my program Im playing including Cecilia McDowall.
