Learnig by yourself on the internet posible?
on: April 30, 2005, 08:16:32 PM
Hi,fellows musicians!

I'm new on this board, I compose a bit of music with my midi keyboard and my computer, but I'm tired of not beeing able to play more than a few keys before it sounds wrong with it, and I would like to be able to create more elaborated music.

Do you know some good website, or software which could teach me how to play piano?

Thanks in advance!

el tio.

Having a teacher is really the best idea... there is nothing like a teacher. That's the only advice I can give you as I don't know of any site/online programs to teach piano.

El tio,  where are you at in playing?  Can you read music, understand chords?  If not you might try:

https://cnx.rice.edu/content/col10208/latest
https://www.musictheory.net/

Here is a link on this site for teaching yourself:

The book Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Theory has a lot of information, and a section on composing and making a pleasant tune.

Good luck!  And, of course, get a teacher!  :)

My advice is to get a teacher. With out one its harder to "polish peices" or play it with the correct dynamics. If getting a teacher is not an option then download songs your trying to learn and match your playing to a recording of it and see if the tempo ect. is all correct. For the composing part i would reall try to get a teacher. hope this helps :)
