Great Taste, Less Flaming!
on: May 05, 2005, 05:06:40 PM
I know exactly what you're thinking.

"Where on earth can I find a friendly bunch of adult musicians who
enjoy mixing pianos and politics, repertoire and remodeling, tunings
and theology, all in one thriving Internet community?"

WellTemperedForum.com, of course!

WellTemperedForum (yes, we do know the acronym is what!), started up
just two weeks ago and has already grown to almost 100 members. You
will see a number of familiar faces there -- many of us post here and on
PianoWorld as well. In fact, the catalyst for the formation of what
was the closure of the off-topic board at PianoWorld.

The what site has a section for discussion of pianos and music
("The Soundboard") and a section for discussion of anything else ("Off
Key"). Recent off-topic discussions have ranged from 2008
presidential politics, really awful films, plastic surgery, and of
course, episiotomies, all done in an atmosphere of lighthearted fun and mutual respect.

Why, we even have your garden-variety, obligatory adorable mascot:

Hope to see you there!

Cindy -- thanking Nils for his permission to post this

There's some guy who keeps posting at that site like he thinks he's funny or something.  He has over 500 posts already.  He should get a life....

I went over and looked at it. It looks to me like a little group of left wing fanatics engaged in mutual masturbation.
I got banned because of a leftwing kook crybaby who is so simple minded she thinks having a user name written in pig latin is funny. Whine to the cowardly moderator, and free speech means nothing here

Left wing, right wing - really doesn't matter.  Good humor, good fun, good discourse - dished out with intelligence and respect.

(and if anyone is wondering where sandys is coming from, take a look at his 6 PF posts and you will see that he's come with a one issue agenda)

I didn't see much hint of intelligence. It was also obvious that the only ones who get any respect are the ones who agree with the little group of lefties.

Well, Sandy.  Why don't you test your theory, log on  and post something there.  I have not seen anyone treated with disrespect and there a a number who even *you* would consider conservative.

Like your forum?  I don't post much. I read mostly. And I'm not a "he". My name is Sandra.

Where I'm "coming from" is I was invited to look at your forum, so I did. It's full of left wing fanatics all stroking each other, pathetically trying to come up with something to talk about. So I gave my opinion. As a liberal, you do believe in freedom of speech, don't you?

Indeed, what is a neat place and all lefties and righties are welcome.  All we ask is show respect and no personal nastiness.  (Nastiness against political figures of any stripe is fine.)

This Sandra person is likely one of two or three people from the old Piano World Coffee Room who used to get pretty nasty there and apparently has nothing better to do than follow us around.  (And she is deinitely a HE.)

Indeed! You can tell what's in my shorts all the way from there!

Sorry, I'm all woman. I've visited Piano World one time I think. I didn't post at all, that I recall. I rarely post anywhere. I'm certainly not following you around. You came here, remember?  I find it quite funny that you can't accept the fact that someone might actually find your little liberal circle jerk boring, and that you automatically assume the only way anyone would ever disagree with your views is because they are part of some comspiracy of people "following you around".  You really do believe the rest of the world thinks like you do, don't you?

I mean you no harm. I simply expressed my opinion, after being invited to visit. Am I alllowed to have an opinion, or is this just an example of how you show respect and avoid personal nastiness on your forum?

I'll tell you what Jack. Name me one conservative on that board, and I'll join.

No, I haven't heard of him.  Look, this thread invited people to check out your forum. I did that, and it was so one sided that I commented on it. Apparently you don't like that, so you're accusing me of being other people, and attacking me personally. If you didn't want people's opinions, why did you invite them?

you've got to love how a post called "great taste, less flaming" manages to turn into a tasteless flaming match, albeit a minor one.  Is no thread safe?  Cheers for that Sandy.

There are several who post there and seem to enjoy it.  I won't give their names, but if you are genuinely interested, Sandy, do PM me and I'll tell you privately.  If you've been reading the what  board, you already know their names, though.

Don't feel obligated to join or anything.  You're welcome if you feel you'd enjoy it, of course . . .

For the good members of PF,  I guess you'll have to decide for yourselves!  :D
