Prokofiev Toccata op11

Anyone have any fingerings to suggest for that hideous sections involving


chromatic thirds + pedal note above?

i'm using

5 -  5 -  5 -  5 - 5 -  5 -  5 -  5
4 3 4 3 3 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
1 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1

which isn't really very fast. But i've experimented and experimented but i still can't get any other fingerings, that're flexible. any suggestions? ( 1 - 2 is really becoming sucky) (i'm sure there's alot of mistakes there, but its just a rough idea as to the number of 12s i have to use...)

This is the fingering I use consistently.  It's slightly different for each section, so look at these carefully.  The score from Alfred suggests a fingering slightly different as well, so you may check that out as well, it's edited by Murray Baylor.

How long did it take you to learn the entire thing?

When I first learned it a couple years ago, it took about a month or so to start feeling comfortable with the notes, and another couple months to bring it up to speed.  That's the thing, this piece demands so much from a pianist that it takes some time to build up the endurance necessary to play it through at tempo.  You HAVE to have very good technique or you'll not be able to play it properly, or worse, you could injure yourself in the process.

This semester I brought the toccata back for auditions and my recital, and it took about 3 weeks to bring back up to speed.
