Programming Liszt's B minor
on: May 17, 2005, 01:04:23 PM
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on programming Liszt's B minor in concerts.

after loving this work for so many years, I finally decided to learn it and perform it for a concert towards the end of the year (providing that I learn it in time)

Im thinking coupling it with Schubert's big B flat, another one of my favs.  Many CDs have Schubert's wonderer of the Schumann Fantasy with the b minor due to their connections, but I dont care much for either works at the moment.

what other smaller works could I use to fill in some time? schubert-liszt song transcriptions? or maybe some other smaller works by other composers?

there was  a long thread about this previously. Use the search function and that can help you out some. I personally can't recommend anything, mainly because I don't like the b min. but that is personal preference.

yep some people go overboard. I don't prefer it, but it isn't a crap piece by any measures.
