Suggestion diabolique?
on: May 26, 2005, 11:46:02 AM
Hi,

I heard this piece was quite furious and was wondering whether its a great piece to learn if you want to take out your anger, on a piano. I looked through the score briefly and it looked quite easy for the first couple of pages, then of course it gradually increased in difficulty until I dare not look at it anymore, is it very difficult? My level of playing is advanced, but I am not quite capable of reaching some of the highest concert standards yet, so if its too difficult I need to know.

another thing, I recall hearing a recording of a solo piano piece by prokeviev played by argerich not long ago, it sounded like two people were playing it, I think it was a toccata and I was wondering if he wrote just one toccata or several of them.

Thanks.

suggestions diabolique is a great way to vent stress. haha i love it. start slowly, look for patterns. its actually not that hard.

the toccata you're referring to is probably the op11. you probably don't want to start if you can't even do the diabolique. its much much hharder.

I played this piece too, it might be difficult at the beginning. When I started reading it for the first time, I was like: "Hell, can I ever play this piece?"  :o But actually it's a lot of fun to play and I don't regret it that I started playing this piece  :)

If you can reach more than an octave, this shouldn't be too difficult for you.. Just pay attention to your technique and that you won't get those cramps in your arm (I had this a couple of times), anyway..

Good luck if you're going to play it  :) You won't regret it, I'm sure!
