How to upload?
on: May 29, 2005, 12:47:06 AM
Hi everyone--

I read that to put it on this site, your file has to be MP3.  I'm a computer dunce, so can anyone explain to me how to get a track from my CD into MP3 format?  I actually got to the point of trying to download a program off the web that "rips" CD tracks to MP3.  The free trials only rip tracks 1-5, however, and what I want to get is track 9.

Any way around this, or is the only way to buy one of these "CD ripper" programs?  (they're about $20.)

All the best, Teresa

Did you try www.download.com?  I haven't been there in awhile, so I'm not sure what they have currently, but it's worth a shot.

No matter what method you use, the process goes something like this: 1) put a CD in the computer, 2) use software to "rip" the audio to wave, aiff or directly to mp3, 3) if not going directly to mp3, use more software to convert the audio file to mp3.

If you use Windows Media Player, there are a number of plugins that will rip audio into mp3's.  Check out this link:

I use the Intervideo MP3 XPack quite frequently and like it a lot, and it's under $10.
