I am looking for the score for a piece I recently heard played in my home town,
at a classical music event. The performers teacher introduced it and said it was meant to picture a spinning top that dances around for a while, then falls over.
The pianist was a little girl, about ten, and she was really awesome. Fast and precise in technique. If you think you know which piece it is, please contact me jkristiand@gmail.com :)

Ummmm song without words "spinning song"  by Mendelssohn has spinning in it, don't quite know what your talkin about though... Are there lotsa chromatic notes?
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

Yes many chromatic notes, it reminded me a bit of "flight of the bumblebee".
Not a very long piece...

That's Mendelssohn's Spinning Song
Music is God's language. When he speaks, listen.

I don't know the piece very well, but when you said "spinning top", the first thing that jumped to mind was Bizet's "La boutique fantastique"... There's a movement in that called "La toupie" (The spinning top)

This never works. I've been looking for this piano concerto (or something) for like forever and I have never heard it again. I even know the notes for God's sake.

What are the notes? That would really help.

Well I am not the Original Poster, but I can always hijack this thread.

There's a part where there is this repetition of pattern, roughly slowly goes like :

fa# mi fa# re do# re si la si sol fa# sol
mi re mi do# si do# la sol la fa# mi fa#
re ...

then there's some little thing to redo the patter again, and then another part of the piece comes in. So it kinda looks like a poem, in like an abcbdb kind of structure.

It would seem like it is a more modern piece, which is why I never have heard of its name.
