Book series?
on: June 11, 2005, 03:40:10 AM
What book series would you recommend for a person who is [re]learning to play for the first time?  I quit lessons years ago and I'm not quite sure what I remember, so I'm looking for something that a [semi]beginner can handle.

I really like the Celebration Series from Frederick Harris, I had the faber books but that was just not my style and it didn't move you fast enough along.

The Celebration Series is a level based series with studies / repertoire / workbook for each level. I introduced my new piano teacher to these and she loves them, most of her students are being moved to this series also.

And ..... get a teacher, I can't say enough about that. At first I was taking 30 minutes / week for a couple of years, but you really need more like an hour to work through all of it if your putting your time in. Which leads me too.. yes 1-2+ hours / day of practice.
