Wow! With a 100 different recordings available you've got the pick of the litter! My recommendation: it's a gentle concerto, basically. At the risk of sounding a little sexist here, I'd go with a female. I think it requires a feminine touch to bring out the nuances. Men tend to pound the hell out of it like it was Rachmaninoff. Go with Helene Grimaud's performance. Beautifully done. As an added bonus you get to stare at her lovely face on the cover while you listen. For a preview go to this link and watch a video snippet of her playing it.

Hahaha, if it wasn't for her fine playing, this video is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen

On the Schumann concerto,  two classics are the one by Dinu Lipatti, Ernest Anseme conducting, and also the Geza Anda rendition conducted by Rafael Kubelik.
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

I have a video of Argerich flawlessly playing the whole concerto (actually, she does slip up one chord a tad  :o) and it's, as always, superb.  (She also plays Funerailles and Jeau-Deux)
A modern house without a flush toilet... uncanny.

For the recordings I prefer:

Richter, Kempff and Brendel, Pollini and sometimes Arrau.

No offence, but perhaps you should broaden your listening horizons a bit. (I do enjoy the Kempff performance)

Many years ago I heard live Emil Gilels playing this Concerto. It was unforgettable and probably one of the most incredible performances.
My favorite recording is Dinu Lipatti. Some of Michelangeli recordings of this Concerto are very good.

I like the Zimerman recording with Herbert Von Karajan as the conducter. He plays the Grieg as well.  A very nice CD, I think.
