Topic: Summary of "emotional" collective concious for grands  (Read 1985 times)

What a great forum - I've been reading with zeal.

I've just started my search for a grand - 6'-7' and $20K-$30K.

Is there any resource out there that has attempted to collect the "common man's/woman's" thoughts regarding the more emotional sound elements of various pianos?  Things like base richness, brightness, dynamic range, etc.  For now I guess I'm most interested in these emotional comparisons, I imagine before long I'll begin to get into the more technical/logistical elements like maintenance issues, lifetime, action etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

 Yes there is. It's called  "The Piano Book" 4th edition by Larry Fine. It rates all foreign and domestic pianos.  Go to Barnes&Noble and buy a copy. :)

1. Link to my thoughts on the subject.

2. My other thought: Words suck at accurately describing piano sound. There is no substitute to actually going out there and playing/listening to all the different pianos yourself. I hope you will end up doing more playing/listening than reading, I hope you will discover and develop your own personal thoughts on the different pianos instead of relying on the "common man's" thoughts, and I hope you will find joy in the process.
