Begining again
on: June 19, 2003, 07:55:32 AM
Hi! I'm looking for advice with the following: I started studying piano at the age of 8, and studied until I was 12. Then, for several reasons (mainly economical) I was forced to quit. Since then I have certainly missed the piano. Now I'm about to turn 30 and I'm finding myself in the possibility of aquiring a piano and with time to practice. Considering that I haven't touched a piano in more than a decade, is it possible to re-learn piano at my age? Of course, my pretentions go no further than playing for my own amusement.

Is there hope for me, or should I devote my money and my time to something else? Have you heard about other people in similar situations?

Thanks

Ediz,
In my opinion it's never too late to start or even better start again. time will pass by whether you learn/re-learn the piano or not. so much better to use the time to your advantage.
I just started again a few months ago (late 20's) and i only took lesssons for a year or so when i was young. it's amazing how focused i am now though.
So start playing and don't think twice about it! Good luck:)

If you really enjoy playing the piano, I recommend that you start playing again.  My lessons were broken up, too.  There was a period of almost a year where I didn't play, then all of a sudden I got interested again, much more so than before.  I am glad I did, and think that if you get started again, you probably will be glad you restarted, too.
Good luck!
