Strauss II - Piano Music
Johann Strauss II
The Austrian composer Johann Strauss II, in his lifetime known as "The Waltz King", had his greatest success within the "light music" genre, particularly dance music and operettas.
He composed over 500 waltzes, polkas, quadrilles, and other types of dance music, as well as several operettas (for example the well know "Die Fledermaus" and "Der Zigeunerbaron") and a ballet. He is largely responsible for the popularity of the waltz in Vienna during the 19th century.
