Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky
Six Pieces
Op. 19
About Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky's Six Pieces
Tchaikovsky’s Opus 19 did much to establish his reputation as a distinctive composer of solo piano genre pieces. The melodic quality of some of the pieces and their relative simplicity (Nocturne, Feuillet d'album) soon made them popular with amateur pianists. The last of the six almost seems a little out of place among the other more illustrative pieces – it is a set of variations that could just as well have been published separately.
