Can anybody give me info on my piano.
on: June 19, 2005, 03:14:58 AM
I have an Everett upright piano, and I have never heard of the brand nor can I find any info about it. Can any body tell me anything about it?
Medtner, man.

Larry Fine's THE PIANO BOOK should give you all you need to identify and read about your piano.  It is almost certainly a "second line" produced by one of the well known piano companies.

This book will be in your local public library.  Caution:  There are at least three editions.  Check all of them, not just the most recent.

Good luck--

Everet was not a second string piano (like now, say, Boston); it was very well liked producer of high end pianos favored by the likes of Edward McDowell and Teresa Carreno.  Like many others, the brand is now owned by Asian makers (I may be wrong, but I think Samick owns this one).

I am not much of an upright person, but your piano should be nice if well repaired (likely not worth rebuilding, though).  I am assuming it is old.   Would you describe hwo it sounds and what condition it is in?
Money does not make happiness, but it can buy you a piano.  :)

Do you know or can you find the serial number? If so, you can look up its date in the Pierce Piano Atlas, which also gives some information on the brand, though probably not as much as Larry Fine.

From Pierce piano Atlas-
Everett Piano Co,
Offices and Factory South Haven, Michigan.  Established in Boston 1883. Everett Piano Company as a whollyowned subsidiary of Hammond Organ Company.

The serial number is important to know the exact date it was built.
