Moszkowski Concerto
on: June 19, 2005, 11:06:49 PM
Great piece. If it's not too hard I'd love to learn the first movement. I like it way more than my other options. If someone could send me the sheet music that would be great!!!!!
Thanks

Ok, so, someone told me this concerto was "not too difficult" and I was like "sweet. it sounds really nice". But looking at the score it looks quite difficult. Does anyone want to compare the first movement of this concerto to any other concerto first movement for me??? It would be greatly appreciated.
Peace

I love this concerto. It's a fresh deviation from many other concertos other there (No offense.
). It could be very playful at times. I don't know how difficult it is compared to other concertos, but it doesn't seem very easy to tackle, either. Just like many of his etudes, there are lots of running notes and trying to play it could be a good way to improve your finger tenchniques. I want to give it a try someday.

I don't have any personal experience with Schumann, but compared to Grieg's concerto, it's more demanding in terms of techniques. But, I'm just talking about technical difficulty. but not other aspects of the piece. Otherwise the whole comparison itself would be irrelavant. I actually just worked on the first few bars, and I'm already loving it! I guess you just have to keep yourself motivated.

and i'm totally in love with this concerto too. great replacement for the tchaikovsky concerto if anyones thinking of learning a concerto around similar level. i own the music. It is very hard. in my opinion, harder than the tchaikovsky. Double octaves (and not just simple scale passages!!! actually very complicated octaves!) fast runs, big chords, and fast fingerwork (check out that 3rd movement, whoa...) Everything. If you are familiar with both concertos, wouldn't you agree with me that the coda of the tchaikovsky's first mvt is almost like an exact clone of the ideas in the first mvt of the moszkowski?! and the final climaxes of the last movements are comparable as well. The problem with the Moszkowski is that it would be extremely hard to track down the orchestral parts if you are thinking of doing it with an orchestra. That's why i reluctantly chose the tchaikovsky instead.
