New Piano Piece by Chopin Discovered – Free Piano Score
A previously unknown manuscript by Frédéric Chopin has been discovered at New York’s Morgan Library and Museum. The handwritten score is titled “Valse” and consists of 24 bars of music in the key of A minor and is considered a major discovery in the wold of classical piano music. Read more >>

International Music Competition In Korea

Tongyeong International Music Festival Foundation (TIMF Foundation / www.timf.org) proudly introduces Gyeongnam International Music Competition managed by TIMF Foundation to every interested party. Gyeongnam International Music Competition takes its aim at remembering the music of Isang Yun, the world renowned contemporary music composer, promoting cultural exchanges among nations through music and supporting talented young musicians from all over the world. This year’s competition is open to every talented pianist of any nationality born on or after October 29, 1977 and before November 5, 1990. The disciplines of the competition are rotating within three different instruments; 2003/Cello, 2004/Violin, 2005/Piano and 2006/Cello again.

Numerous distinguished musicians from all over the world participated in the last two years′ competitions which came to great success in gaining huge acclaims for its fairness, well developed organization and the highest quality of competitors/jury. The participants were competing for the First Prize worth KRW30,000,000 (About USD25,000) cash prize and total KRW72,000,000 (About USD60,000) was conferred to the five finalists. 1. Isang Yun: 5 Stücke für Klavier (1958) or Shao Yang Yin (1966, piano version)
2. A Beethoven Sonata (except Op. 7, 49 or 106)
3. One or more works of the contestant`s choice

•  2ND STAGE (45-50 pieces)
1. Isang Yun Interludium A, or a work composed after 1900 by any composer other than Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, and Ravel (minimum length 10 minutes)
2. The rest of the program is free and should reflect the contestant`s inclinations, and it must not include any work by Beethoven.

6. F. Chopin:     Piano Concerto No. 1 in e minor, Op. 11
7. F. Chopin:    Piano Concerto No. 2 in f minor, Op. 21
8. E. Grieg:     Piano Concerto in a minor, Op.16
9. S. Rachmaninoff:     Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini Op. 43
10. B. Bartók:     Piano Concerto No. 3 in E major (completed by Tibor Serly), Sz. 119, BB 127

1. Changes in the submitted repertoire or running order may be made only with permission of the Competition. No changes will be accepted after Sep. 17, 2005.
2. In all stages, the order of performance is the competitor's choice.
