What Level am I at?
on: June 26, 2005, 10:00:55 PM
I never heard of this piano grading system.   :-X   Can somebody explain it to me?  I wonder what level I am at.  :-\ I feel so lost and confused because I don't have a teacher at the moment.  I have played, in the past year:

Gershwin's 3 preludes, Mozart's Fantasia in C minor, Khatchaturian's Tocatta, Chopin Nocturnes in Db Major, E minor, C# Posthumous, F minor, Debussy's Arabesque no. 1, Clair de Lune, Revolutionary Etude by Chopin.......

Could someone reccomend me other pieces that are around this level?  I am especially interested in stuff by Ravel and Debussy. . . . . I looked at Ravel's Jeaux d'eau the other day and my brain couldn't process it at all.  i couldn't make it through the first 2 measures.     I would also like to try another etude by chopin....

thank you all so much

i have learned so much these past few days just by reading all of your posts.   :)

If u can play the Revolutionary up to speed u are above Grade 8 (which is the top grade for ABRSM) for performance.

However it also depends on ur sight reading and that doesn't sound so good.

You need a teacher!!!

Ravel Sonatine is a nice intermediate level piece.
I wish i was what i was when i wanted to be who i am now.
